Book Talk: The Legend of Wyatt Outlaw: From Reconstruction through Black Lives Matter

Join us from 5:30-7 PM at the Love House on Jan. 28 for our first book event of 2026! We welcome writer, composer, and director Sylvester Allen Jr. and professor Belle Boggs (Department of English, NCSU), authors of The Legend of Wyatt Outlaw: From Reconstruction through Black Lives Matter (UNC Press/Ferris & Ferris Books, 2026), in conversation with Gene Nichol (UNC School of Law).

This work recovers the life and 1870 lynching of Outlaw, a prominent Black business owner and leader in the North Carolina Piedmont. Co-sponsored with the Center for the Study of the American South.
