DO or DIE: Affect, Ritual, Resistance Opening Reception

19

Sep

Join us Thursday, September 19 at 7PM for the opening of DO or DIE: Affect, Ritual, Resistance. This multimedia exhibition by award-winning artist Fahamu Pecou seeks to elevate and recontextualize Black life and death by reframing our view. Pecou integrates West African spiritual traditions with African cultural retentions in hip-hop and the philosophy of “Negritude” to explore Black existence. This event is free and open to the public.

Fahamu Pecou. The Return, 2016. Acrylic and gold leaf on canvas.

Fahamu Pecou’s DO or DIE: Affect, Ritual, Resistance has been organized by the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston, in collaboration with the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University.
