Applications are now open for 2019 fellowships

The Stone Center is currently accepting applications for 2 fellowship opportunities:

2019 Undergraduate International Studies Fellowship: The Undergraduate International Studies Fellowship (UISF) supports international study for two undergraduates of color or other students who, because of socioeconomic or other reasons, maybe underrepresented in study abroad programs. UISF recipients are awarded up to $2,500 toward academic research or study in an international setting. Although the fellowship seeks to encourage research in African or African Diaspora countries, there are no restrictions on intended country of study.

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are enrolled full-time, in good academic standing, and plan to travel abroad in the summer or fall of 2019 are eligible to apply. Applications are due by March 18, 2019, at 5 pm. Completed applications may be emailed to stonecenter@unc.edu or submitted in person to the Stone Center office, suite 215.

2019 Sean Douglas Leadership Fellowship: The Sean Douglas Leadership Fellows (SDLF) Program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students interested in gaining practical experience in planning and managing arts, cultural and academic programs while serving as an intern at the Stone Center and working closely with the Director and Stone Center staff. The application deadline is March 12, 2018, at 5 pm. Completed application packets are accepted in person in the Stone Center office, suite 215, or by email to stonecenter@unc.edu.

Led by Alpha Phi Alpa Fraternity, Inc. and the Douglas Family, the Sean Douglas Initiative is an effort to memorialize Sean Douglas, a U.S. Army veteran, aviator, and community leader. Through this program, fellows are to be awarded semester-long paid fellowships and work directly with the Stone Center Director to develop meaningful leadership experiences on campus and in the surrounding communities.
